The Israel Start-Up Nation riders put on an impressive performance on stage 10 of the Giro d’Italia, ultimately seeing Davide Cimolai sprint to third place on the stage.

Despite its short distance of just 139.5 km, today’s stage was anything but easy for the riders. Strong wind gusts kept the peloton on its toes from the start of the stage, never allowing the early break to gain a gap of much more than two minutes.

On the final two ascents, BORA-hansgrohe upped the pace of the peloton, causing several of the sprinters to drop.

The ISN guys were attentive and didn’t miss a beat, always staying near the front and even setting the tempo during the challenging crosswind section with 20 km to go, keeping team leader Dan Martin safe and out of trouble.

With a few tricky corners on the last two kilometers, positioning was vital for a good result. Cimolai did well to follow the right wheels and at the end, our strong Italian sprinter crossed the line in third place – his third podium after previously finishing second twice.

Davide Cimolai: “After finishing second twice and now third today, I would really have liked to win this one. However, I’m happy to take third after my team did an amazing job after the last climb. Today, I only missed the victory to make it a perfect day. I think there are still two sprint opportunities left and I really hope I can win one of them, especially the one finishing in my region! Now, I’m just looking forward to the rest day and not having to set an alarm in the morning. Maybe I can even have a pizza tonight.”
