How easy was it to overlook Omer Goldstein’s fine performance in the WT-level Eschborn Frankfurt yesterday, when fellow Israeli sprinter Itamar Einhorn grabbed the spotlight with his phenomenal victory in Slovakia?
But, for a team that has a commitment to developing Israeli cycling rooted deeply in its fabric, it was a special day indeed. While Itamar scored that victory in Slovakia, Omer was one of the three ISN riders who battled the climbs successfully and turned out to be our best card to play in the sprint.
Here were two bright Israelis, showing that they deserved our trust and will merit plenty more chances to shine.
Of course, this is a team effort and it’s important to note how critical all the ISN riders are in this process. The great international riders on this team are a huge part of our vision, serving as leaders by example to the young talents from Israel and elsewhere. Ben Hermans was our best rider in Frankfurt and Reto Hollenstein was there to position Omer, while the legend Chris Froome was the catalyst for Einhorn’s leadout in Slovakia.
Omer, Itamar, Guy Niv and Guy Sagiv, plus the promising young Israelis in the ICA devo project, will surely create many more special moments to come.
