He was perfectly positioned in the last few hundred meters, had full support and trust from his Israel Start-Up Nation teammates and delivered fabulously: Itamar Einhorn is the first Israeli male cyclist ever on the podium in a professional cycling race.

HISTORY WAS WRITTEN

After Daniel Turek and Travis McCabe brought Einhorn to the front of the bunch, it was up to the Israeli sprinter to write history. So he did, with an exceptional explosion to the finish line.

Ultimately, also Colombian star Edwin Ávila got himself a great result in stage two of Tour Colombia: fourth.

EINHORN: ‘I CANNOT BELIEVE IT’

Itamar Einhorn could, right after the finish, barely believe he got himself a historical result. “I knew that this is a milestone that I could reach and this was actually my goal this season. The funny thing is that I did not think, during the race today, that I was able to do this. I had difficulties with the altitude and the oxygen. But in the last kilometer, I just forgot about it.”

His next goal is to be the first Israeli winning a professional cycling race. “I feel that this is within reach. The podium finish today was the indication that it is now possible.”

“I want to thank my ISN-teammates for helping me reach this milestone for Israeli cycling. It is only the beginning.”

“THERE IS MORE TO COME”

Also Pro Manager Kjell Carlström was excited about this historical moment in Israeli cycling. “We waited for this a long time and we are very satisfied to see him achieving this goal.”

“Now we are looking for an Israeli rider to win a race and are confident it will happen sooner then later. Pleased to see that this project, founded to advance Israeli cyclists – has reached this milestone. There is more to come.”
