Corona casts shadow over stage 10 of Giro as GC-guys wage war

ISN’s journey in the Giro 2020 continued with what was, on paper, a good stage for ISN sprinter Davide Cimolai. But the contenders for the general classification felt differently.

Maybe it was the fear of a shortened Giro d’Italia after today’s COVID-19 cases that made the GC-contenders attack each other in the final.

But it automatically meant the end for teams with ambitions to sprint today, including Israel Start-Up Nation. There was no way for fast finishers to keep up with climbers – who turned into speed maniacs.

The second week of the Giro d’Italia does look promising though. The next few stages are similar, but not as tough as today. There might be a few chances for ISN to sprint.

Cimolai said he rested well during yesterday’s day off and he realized the next few stages are interesting for him. “My goal is to improve my best Giro result. Today it was not meant to be, as the GC-favorites raced aggressively, but there are quite a few chances yet to come.”
